Monash Brewlab Newsletter Vol. 9

A WRAP UP OF OUR LAST 2 WEEKS

The Monash Brewlab team served their amazing products for the first time at the A2E2 event at Monash University. Hella Ella (Pale Ale), the French Saison, and Knox Your Sox (IPA) were a huge success with the guests. Presenting Monash Brewlab's products has been an amazing experience, and the team has many more events planned for the future!

To keep up with upcoming events, the team has continued to brew a variety of beers. A wheat beer, or 'Witbier' was a new experiment for the team. The Belgian style Witbier called "Oops..I did wit again" has mandarina bavaria hops, orange peel and coriander seeds. If you are interested in the recipe, click on the link below!

Monash Brewlab is in the process of a recruitment drive, interviewing students for the new batch of members! The team is looking for individuals that share Monash Brewlab's values, and have drive and passion to make a positive contribution to the team. The new recruits will be will be welcomed to the team with a very special event that everyone is looking forward to.

Engaging with the brewing community is also very important to the team, as it is a great way to get the Monash Brewlab name heard. Over the weekend a few members attended the 'Chris White at Grain and Grape' event where the team met some amazing people, like Joanne from Whitelabs! There was a demonstration on a huge system (much larger than Brewlab's!) with a lot of great names; Chris White from Whitelabs, Dereck Hales from Bad Shepherd and Ralf from Speidel. It is always great to hear from the best in the business!

Meet...Millie!

We caught up with Millie and asked her a couple of questions so that YOU can get to know her better!

Role: Partnerships Manager

Studies: Bachelor of Chemical Engineering and Bachelor of Commerce

What is your favourite part about being involved with the Monash BrewLab?

"I am a member of the external team so what has really excited me about Monash BrewLab is being able to connect and communicate with some really cool people both within Monash Uni as well as within the Beer and Kombucha industry. When I first joined BrewLab its safe to say that I LOVED beer but didn't know much about it - now all my friends come to me for the beer recommendations!"

Why did you join Monash BrewLab?

"As a Chemical Engineering student the thought of a club that focusses on brewing beer at a University was right up my alley. I was also extremely excited by the wide variety of roles within the Monash BrewLab and was excited by the opportunity to develop my skills as a brewer but also as a communicator, organiser and leader!"
